Our latest Type 1 Diabetes Clinic Appointment....

We made our usual two plus hour trip to Knoxville. Isaac was tired because he had been up since 5 and had already been turkey hunting.
We stopped by the Bass Pro Shop.
Making the turn into Northeast Tn. Childrens Hospital.
Besides Isaac's A1C it was time for his yearly labwork.
Isaac waiting to be discharged. They let him skip a few things we usually do so we could make it back home in time for his team's baseball game!
Isaac took a picture of the Sunsphere from the Interstate. It is located in the World's Fair Park.
We made it back just in time for his ballgame!
His A1C was 7 :)

I am very proud of you Isaac. You deal with your diabetes daily like a Hero~
You are my Hero!!!

Thank God for all of His many blessings.

Dexcom G4 Platinum :)

So thankful to have received our new Dexcom G4 Platinum Continuous Glucose Monitor and sensors this week :)
Isaac is looking forward to trying it out :) I have read some reviews that have stated a much farther range and better accuracy with the G4 compared to the 7 Plus~I sure hope so.
*I want a cure most of all but I am so thankful for better technology to help take care of our loved ones living with Type 1 Diabetes!
So much to be thankful for.

Dexcom G4 Platinum:)

Dexcom G4 Platinum

We just received our Dexcom 7 plus order a few weeks ago. Our year warranty had ran out and it was time to order our new one. I found out today that the Dexcom G4 had been approved so I called Dexcom. They will be shipping us out the new Dexcom G4 (the blue one) in Dec. as a free upgrade-so thankful for this improved Continuous Glucose Monitor! All we need to do is change our order from the Seven plus sensors to the G4 Platinum sensors in Dec.   :)

God is so good!!

Omnipod and Dexcom Shipments :)

I am always so thankful to receive these diabetes supplies for Isaac. Every three months we get new shipments of Isaac's Omnipod Insulin Pumps(50) and his Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor Sensors(16)..this time he also got a new Dexcom CGM System since the warranty ran out on his old one. This is the first time that we have gotten the protective barrier and adhesive remover wipes.
I am so thankful for my husband's insurance and the ability to purchase these tools that make living with type 1 diabetes alittle easier!
Thank God for INSULIN and all of his many blessings :)

Bad insulin

The first twelve hours on Isaac's Dexcom 7 CGM-(We usually don't see numbers like that)-Thank God. Thinking it must have been the insulin-it was the last in the vial. The last twelve hours are with the newly opened vial of insulin...Much better :)
Thankful that we have only had insulin go bad early twice.

First time happenings with the Omnipod

                                          Can you see it?

 Can you see it now?

                              How about now-LOW insulin!

Today was the first time since Isaac started using the Omnipod that we changed his pod before we absolutely had to because of a low reservoir-(you have a window of eight hours after the pod expires to change it-we usually change it within an hour of that time.) Today we changed it about 3.5 hours after it expired. (It may have lasted a few more hours)We have the pod set to alarm when there is 10 units left. We had much less than that left we when changed it. I usually fill the pod with the least amount of insulin needed to prime it-apx. 85 units.... He has been on the pod for 14 months.

Times-they are changing.
It seems not so long ago that he was hardly taking a total of 4 units in an entire day. I know as he grows it will continue to be more-especially throughout puberty/growth spurts.

Thank you Lord for insulin  :)

Quick Sticks :) for Low Blood Sugar

My youngest son Isaac has type 1 diabetes. He received this package in the mail today.
I ordered it a few days ago from this website www.quicksticks.com
It has free samples of Quick Sticks (for treatment of low blood sugar) and reading material with a coupon. Isaac has tried the watermelon and really likes it. (Each pack has 10 grams of fast acting carbs.) You tear open the packet and pour it into your mouth- it dissolves quickly :)
They place a personal message inside the package for the recipient. This is the one I wrote for Isaac.
They also included this wrist band bracelet.
Go to the website and order your free samples :)
