Just thought I would share a photo of where Isaac is wearing his type 1 medical "devices" today.
His Dexcom 7 Plus continuous glucose monitor is on his left arm. There is a metal wire inserted into his tissue-This gives us a blood glucose reading every 5 minutes and has trending arrows that show how/speed that his blood glucose is trending (level/raising/lowering) His Omnipod (tubeless)insulin pump is on his left lower back. It has a plastic cannula inserted into his tissue and delivers his insulin continuously. We replace his Omnipod every 3 days and put a new one on a new site, his Dexcom is not replaced as often..every seven days..(we usally get twice this out of them) "Sites" that we use are his upper legs, abdomen, arms, lower back and upper buttocks.
I thank God for these medical devices that help keep Isaac alive everyday. :)

A new replacement PDM for our Omnipod....
The last few control test with our Omnipod PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager) have been in the low range, usually between 72-82.(With new control solution/bottle of strips)
Normal for our control solution is 83-125. So Omnipod is sending us out a new PDM. *We have had very good service so far with Omnipod :)

Abram's exciting news...A trip to Colorado :)
Over 1800 miles....
This is a possible route there, they will be coming back a more southern route through New Mexico, etc.
Our really good friend/neighbor ask Abram to go on a hunting trip with him and his son..(My brother in-law is also going.) They will be going to Southwest Colorado this fall to fish/hike/elk hunt/camp, etc and stopping to visit a few National Parks along the way. They will be gone for two weeks!!! That will "be hard" for me(I will miss him so much) but I know it will be great for him and "ohh" the memories he will make. :)
God is good!

Update on Isaac's knee
Isaac has bruising of his medial tibial plateau..Ice/elevation/motrin for the weekend and he can resume play next week if no pain..If pain continues he will need to be seen again..Thanks for your prayers :)
Knee injury...
After finally getting to play basketball again(having broken his clavicle twice since Sept.-first in football, then in basketball) this is Isaac's knee tonight after the game.. Guess we will be seeing the Ortho. again very soon. He has one speed and it is WIDE open! Thanks for your prayers.

Omnipod site...
We changed Isaac's pod a few hours early.(It has to be changed every 3 days.) He had said that it was sore. This is what we found when we removed his Omnipod..The bruising is around the area that the canula goes in. The redness is where the adhesive from the pod was attached to him. This is the worst looking site that we have seen since podding. No wonder it had been hurting!

Abram-8th grade athlete's recognition :)
Time sure is flying by...
Last night we celebrated 8th grade night with Abram. In all the sports they play they recognize the 8th grade athletes. This time it is Basketball. We are very proud of the fine young Christian man you are becoming Abram :)
My mom with Jacob.
My sister and her husband with my niece Hannah-who is also an 8th grader.
Abram guarding!
Some of our neighbors that came out in support :)
Isaac and my neice Sarah. (See the Dexcom cgm in his other hand.)
After the games they served refreshments to the players and their families.
Next month Abram, along with Marty and Isaac will be participating in the Trial Net research study for type 1 diabetes. Jacob and I had our testing done in Nov. We have not got any results yet.

On this day last year...(Pt. 3 Diagnosis )
Isaac still in the hospital after being diagnosed on 12-27-2010. Him resting on the couch/pull out bed in his hospital room..I guess something other than the hospital bed felt better to him after this long of a stay.
This picture is of Isaac and myself a little while before we were "finally" released on January 4, 2011. Of course, we had to stop by the pharmacy on the way home for several prescriptions!
So thankful to be headed home :)
The day after we got home-Isaac picked out his rabbit dog (Dynamite). He was so thankful to be able to get another hunting dog.. We usually do not have animals in the house..but being as there was over 18 inches of snow outside-we let them have a little indoor time..A boy and his dog-what can you say :)
The next day Jan. 6 we headed to our first Endocrinologist appt. It was his 11th birthday. Our clinic visit's are two and half hours away. The appt. usually last several hours. So we were not able to have his birthday party on that day. We ended up having his party the following weekend.
A year later and many changes..including finding the DOC :)
We went from MDI to the Omnipod insulin pump six months after diagnosis. (June-2011) We also started the Dexcom 7 plus Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor in June 2011.
We have also went from over a 13 A1C at diagnosis to a 6.7
Our next Endo. appt. will be in February.
God has blessed us greatly..
