Getting wood in for winter....

My family has started cutting wood for winter.
We use dead or fallen trees most of time. This
winter has left many trees down..We try to get
our wood cut and stacked in the spring to let it
have time to dry out before cold weather. I am
thankful to God for our wood stove and the
wonderful heat it provides and for the health
and tools to get our wood in. God is so good!!

Our Garden

I was able to plant spinach, lettuces, mustard,
cabbage,cauliflower,red and white onions in
our garden Saturday..The weather turned
chilly and we had some rain/sleet/and snow;
perfect weather for just putting my cold weather
plants in the ground..They are looking so good.
Our hens started laying about 6 weeks ago. We
have new Americauna pullets that are about 3
weeks old and are picking up Buff orphington
pullets this week(about the same age). God is
so good. BLESSED.. We also added 2 more
nannies, one rooster and 2 rabbits to the "farm".
We should have baby bunnies the first week
of April.

Bear Season 2009

My husband killed this bear during archery season
this past year. You can see the poke berry stain
on his nose and mouth. His intestines were also
stained. We have been making chili and stew
out of him..

built a bonfire, made snowmen and had snowball fights..
Hot chocolate with family and friends..And we had no
electricity for 4 days..(Beats the 17 days the last time.)haha

This is our wood shed.. It is about 1/3 full in
this picture.. We filled it up all the way to the
front post.

We have had a fire now for a few days. This
makes all the hard work we did this summer
SO worth it.haha-It was 23 degree's here this
morning.. Heavy frost. I thank God for our
full wood shed..And all of His many
blessings!!

Friday Night Football / Seasons changing

Around our neck of the woods the local high school
football games are very popular.
The cooler morning and evening temp's are a sign of
the seasons changing..Like it or not
the warm summer nights are fading. The leaves are
faintly sneaking in their subtle changes.
Yes-the seasons are changing. Summer is almost gone-
Football season is here and fall is following closely on
his heals..
I'm going out tonight to enjoy my oldest son's high
school game. Last night was my middle sons Jr. High
game..I'll be bringing my blankets with me.. And
enjoying my family.
Have a great weekend.
Love and prayers'~
God is good.

Diggin' Taters!!

Bushel basket full.. :)

Sorting..

We put them out on plastic and wash them and
let them dry before we store them for winter..

We usually do not dig potatos until late
September..Considering all the rain we have
had and other people digging potatos early
because they were rotting-we got ours out
of the ground..There was less than a bushel
rotten out of the 25 bushels we dug..
God is good!!
