Abram's exciting news...A trip to Colorado :)
Over 1800 miles....
This is a possible route there, they will be coming back a more southern route through New Mexico, etc.
Our really good friend/neighbor ask Abram to go on a hunting trip with him and his son..(My brother in-law is also going.) They will be going to Southwest Colorado this fall to fish/hike/elk hunt/camp, etc and stopping to visit a few National Parks along the way. They will be gone for two weeks!!! That will "be hard" for me(I will miss him so much) but I know it will be great for him and "ohh" the memories he will make. :)
God is good!

After the games they served refreshments to the players and their families.
Next month Abram, along with Marty and Isaac will be participating in the Trial Net research study for type 1 diabetes. Jacob and I had our testing done in Nov. We have not got any results yet.

Abram showing the bear's paw.
Marty(dad) and Abram.. It took 4 hours just to get back into the mountains where the bear was killed.
Abram with Chad(Uncle). This bear was in very
rough terrain!!
Abram with his bear.. The bear was a boar.
He weighed around 400 lbs.
Some of the steep rock faces they had to climb.

hunt through double digits of miles in a
day from daylight until dark....

Rebroken Clavicle!!!
Isaac broke his clavicle on 9-8 in a football game. He was released from Ortho. on 10-6.
He rebroke it last night in a basketball game..This time it is not in alignment! The bone almost came through the skin.. We went to the E.R. last night and they put him in a new sling and gave him morphine/nausea med.s through an IV. He went back to Ortho. this morning and they said if he were an adult they would do surgery..but being as he is young they think it will come back into place as it heals..We go back next week. Thank you for all of your prayers..
My son is TOUGH!!! My little HERO. And I am so blessed to get to be his mom :)

Jacob's Black Bear!! :) 10-8-2011
Jacob killed a bear this evening.
It weighed 225 lbs.It was a sow.
He shot it around 10 yards from his stand with his bow, not far from the house. It only ran about 40 yards.. He made a great shot to the vitals. We are having it cut up into burger and stew meat.

It's been awhile...Random update :)
Isaac's swollen/broken clavicle
Busy times here.Football practices or games every day.. Homeschooling...Taking Abram and Isaac to the ortho. pretty often..Isaac has to go this week for a one week recheck..Abram has a 3 week recheck. Isaac for his broken collarbone and Abram for a mullet finger..he was catching the football and his tendon completely tore away from the bone..so he is in a splint for quite awhile..Isaac also goes for his first eye exam with the optho..next week. A few more days and he will have had diabetes for 8 months..We have been changing I:C ratios/basals...coming out of the honeymoon/growth spurt/puberty.....Some of his ratios have come down from 1:60 to 1:15..big changes...
Jacob scored the highest in his soil judging competition yesterday with the FFA. This is his third year competing and he has done well everytime..His school is the only school that has meat science classes and they get to kill/butcher/prepare/wrap the meat from many kinds of animals. He is planning on going to college to be a wildlife biologist.
Still gathering a few peppers/tomatoes from the garden. Our fall mustard greens and lettuce are coming up nicely. I will be canning the mustard when it is big enough..Hope to can a few apples/make apple butter also.We have been pressure washing the decks/porches/house..we will be staining them again soon and also painting our doors/window trims. It has been cooler here lately..
Hunting season opens here this weekend..The boys are excited :)
