What's your number? A1C number that is...

At diagnosis, Isaac's A1C was over the top of the above thermometer...13.2 !!!
He has blood taken every three months to check on his A1C level...Once a year they take more blood and test for more things, like thyroid, celiac, etc.(Because with a type 1 diagnosis he is at greater  risk for developing these diseases also.) They also did  islet autoantibodies testing on this day.
Hannah, Isaac's Certified Pediatric Nurse Practioner checking him out.
Usually our visit takes around 3 hours. After checking in, Isaac gets called back for bp, height, weight, etc. Then see's his diabetes nurse educators, nutritionist, phlebotomist, and Nurse Practioner. Sometimes we have to get new prescription refills.

The guys always want to stop at Bass Pro Shop along the way..Here they are with a few goodies they purchased...not including the vehichles around them..lol-Jacob came last time and he and I had our TrialNet study done. He didn't get to come this time.Abram and Marty had TrialNet Testing done today.(A type 1 diabetes research study.)
A short nap on the way home after a long day. The East Tn. Childrens Hospital is about a 2.5 hours from our house.
Abram and Isaac "resting" on the way home :)

We also stopped for ice cream cones before we made it home..to celebrate Isaac's great A1C!! Which was a 6.5 this time :) Down from 6.7 last time..
I am so thankful for a safe trip and a good check up for Isaac..and all of God's many blessings on our family.

  1. Wonderful A1C!!!!! It's nice that you include some fun times during your endo. appointment day. Our kids like to visit Olive Garden after our appointment.

    God Bless!
